Sports Massage

Support your Performance – Speed up Recovery – Prevent Future Injuries.

Sports Massage Therapy is a dynamic and functional treatment designed for physically active individuals – whether you’re a professional athlete, weekend warrior, or just enjoy staying fit. This targeted therapy combines deep tissue techniques, assisted stretching, and trigger point work to help improve performance, reduce the risk of injury, and aid in post-exercise recovery.
What is Sports Massage?
Sports Massage focuses on muscle systems used during specific activities. Unlike a general relaxation massage, it is tailored to the demands of your sport or fitness routine. This therapy can be used before an event to stimulate circulation and prepare muscles for action, mid and/or after an event to flush out toxins, reduce soreness, and promote healing.
Sports Massage is not only for the elite athletes. Many people with active lifestyles or physically demanding jobs benefit from this structural and proactive treatment.
Depending on your needs, sessions can focus on full-body recovery or targeted  specific areas (topical) like the legs, back, shoulder or hips.

What to Expect during a Sports Massage Session?
. Deep Tissue work for tight and overused muscles.
. Active or passive stretching to increase mobility.
. Trigger point therapy to address referred pain.
. Myofascial release to improve muscle function.

 Why does Sports Massage hurt?

People are often intimidated by sports massage because of its deeper manipulation of muscle tissues. To release impingements, muscle ‘knots’, injuries, and tightness due to bad posture, deeper pressure is needed than with traditional (Swedish) massage. Sports massage is not a silent treatment; the therapist and client constantly communicate to monitor pressure and pain thresholds, ensuring no unnecessary discomfort.

Localised or Full body massage?
Unlike Swedish Massage, Sports Massage targets particular body parts where injury or overuse has occurred. However, full body treatment is also available and clients often describe feeling a full-body awakening towards the end. Alternatively, you might opt for a full-body Deep Tissue massage.

Length of Treatment and After care.
Sports massage session vary from the topical 40-minute treatment to a One hour full-body treatment. (see pricing section for details). Each session begins with a 10-minute consultation to discuss your concerns  and goals. Your range of motion (ROM) may be assessed before and after the session. Post-massage care advice and stretching exercises may be recommended, if necessary.

Kinesiology Taping and Strapping
Taping and Strapping are preventative supports offered before or during sporting events to protect joints and muscles from injury. They are also used to reinforce weak muscles, tendons and ligaments, which have been fatigued due to training and day-to-day activities. These tapes can withstand water and movement for a long time. You can remove them whenever you feel you don’t need them any more. If taping is required  during your massage session, an additional fee will apply, depending on the amount of tape used.
